Urban Air Pollution and Citizen Science: The Case of MI-TRAP

Showcasing MI-TRAP research at PhD Open Days 2025 in Lisbon

The 11th edition of the PhD Open Days event took place on October 27th and 28th at the Técnico Innovation Center powered by Fidelidade, bringing together doctoral researchers, companies, alumni and academic peers for two days of networking and knowledge sharing.

We’re proud that Catarina Gameiro from the C2TN-IST research team represented the MI-TRAP project with her poster Transport-Related Air Pollution in Lisbon: Integrating BC, UFP, and OP into Urban Air Quality Monitoring. Her presentation highlighted innovative approaches to understanding and monitoring complex traffic-related emissions — from black carbon to ultrafine particles and oxidative potential — in urban environments.

Events like this are a great opportunity to connect science and practice, exchange ideas, and raise awareness of the challenges and solutions linked to urban air quality and sustainable transport.
