MI-TRAP Presented at EGU 2026 Session on Transport and Urban Air Quality

MI-TRAP was presented at the EGU General Assembly 2026 during Session AS3.32, Transport and urban air quality: Characterization and monitoring of real-world emissions, impacts on health, and mitigation strategies, convened by MI-TRAP Project Coordinator Konstantinos Eleftheriadis.

Held on Friday, 8 May, the session brought together interdisciplinary research focused on transport-related air pollution, atmospheric chemistry, and the impacts of emissions on climate and public health. The session addressed the growing need for real-world emissions studies and improved scientific understanding of emerging pollution sources, including non-exhaust emissions and microplastics.

MI-TRAP was introduced during the convener’s opening remarks by Dr. Eleftheriadis and further highlighted through three project presentations focusing on urban monitoring campaigns and source apportionment analyses conducted within the project framework.

The presentations included:

The presented work contributed to ongoing discussions on the characterization of transport emissions in high-impact urban environments and the development of evidence-based approaches for improving air quality monitoring and mitigation strategies across Europe.
