09 Aug MI-TRAP Measurement Campaign Underway Across Three Sites in Prague
A MI-TRAP field measurement campaign is now underway across Prague, with researchers collecting data at three locations representing different urban and suburban environments.
Measurements began in early July at three sites:
- Holešovice (HE): a heavily trafficked urban location close to a major railway station.
- Vysočany (CE): a busy traffic junction, with the MI-TRAP equipment installed on the roof of a Czech Hydrometeorological Institute monitoring station.
- Dobrovíz (CE): a suburban background location outside Prague, near the airport.
The selection of these sites provides researchers with an opportunity to compare atmospheric conditions across locations with different levels of traffic influence and different surrounding environments. Such measurements are important for understanding how air pollution varies across urban areas and for identifying the factors that contribute to these differences.
The campaign forms part of MI-TRAP’s wider effort to improve the monitoring and characterisation of pollutants associated with transport and urban environments. By combining measurements from different locations and monitoring approaches, the project aims to contribute to a more detailed understanding of air pollution and its spatial variability.
Following the initial deployment phase, measurements are now ongoing across the Prague sites. While some technical issues and short periods of missing data have affected individual instruments during the early stages of the campaign, the monitoring systems are progressively coming online and data collection is continuing.
