20 Feb Highlights from the MI-TRAP General Assembly 2025 in Berlin

The MI-TRAP Consortium convened in Berlin for its Annual General Assembly on February 18–19, bringing together representatives from 26 partner organizations to assess progress, exchange insights, and define the next steps for advancing urban air quality solutions. Over the course of two dynamic days, the consortium engaged in strategic discussions, examined key research findings, and reinforced its commitment to data-driven environmental policymaking.
Day 1 Highlights
The Assembly opened with a warm welcome from the coordinating team, recognizing the Consortium’s achievements over the past year. The agenda featured a series of plenary sessions showcasing MI-TRAP’s latest research outputs, stakeholder engagement activities, and preliminary results from field deployments. Project leads shared insights on how the consortium’s interdisciplinary approach is shaping innovative, science-based strategies for air pollution mitigation.
Day 2 Highlights
The second day began with an in-depth session on Data Management & Exploitation, focusing on optimizing data accessibility and ensuring its effective application within MI-TRAP’s framework.
Following this, participants joined parallel technical sessions tailored to specific research areas. One session explored advancements in Modeling, Service Tools, and Platforms, detailing how cutting-edge digital solutions are enhancing air quality monitoring. The other focused on CP’s, Measurement Standardization, and Data Output, addressing the critical need for harmonized methodologies to ensure consistency and reliability across different datasets.
The afternoon was dedicated to the 1st International Living Lab (ILL) Workshop, an interactive forum designed to align project objectives with real-world urban challenges. The workshop adopted a World Café format, enabling participants to exchange best practices, identify barriers, and co-develop actionable solutions for cleaner cities. At this stage we had the pleasure of welcoming external stakeholders from our sister project Net4Cities, PAREMPI and the European Citizen Science Association! The session concluded with a plenary discussion that synthesized key takeaways and established priorities for upcoming initiatives.
Later, a briefing on noise measurement methodologies, examined the integration of acoustic data into broader urban air quality strategies. Meanwhile, WP Leaders gathered for an Executive Board meeting to discuss strategic planning.
The Assembly concluded with closing reflections and a reaffirmation of the consortium’s shared vision. Attendees departed with renewed momentum, strengthened partnerships, and a clear roadmap for the year ahead.
