Hearth Summit Athens | MI-TRAP Hosts Workshop on Urban Air Quality

On October 31, MI-TRAP will lead a workshop at the Hearth Summit in Athens, Greece, addressing the urgent issue of urban air pollution. This interactive session, “How Technology Can Protect and Improve Air Quality in Cities,” will engage participants in exploring collaborative solutions to tackle air pollution, an escalating concern as levels of fine particulate matter (PM) often exceed WHO recommendations, impacting citizens’ health and quality of life.

The workshop, co-organized by AMARANTHUS Social Cooperative and One Planet Thessaly, will explore effective mitigation practices tailored to local contexts. Through exercises in co-creation—a core approach of MI-TRAP—participants will assess innovative air quality interventions, from advanced modeling and real-time data strategies to nature-based solutions and community engagement. This hands-on session aims to empower local communities with knowledge to raise awareness and participate in mitigation efforts.

As part of Horizon Innovation Actions, this workshop aligns with the project’s focus on citizen science, policy recommendations, and sustainable urban development. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to MI-TRAP’s ongoing stakeholder engagement initiatives and foster collective learning in urban resilience.
